Oakland Park Specifies Eco-Friendly Finishes

Oakland ParkBamboo floors, eco-friendly tile and paint, energy efficient appliances and oversized, operable picture windows are the interior hallmarks of Oakland Park, a loft and condominium project under construction in historic Grant Park. Oakland Park is anticipating LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the US Green Building Council (USGBC), making it one of the first multi-unit residential buildings to be LEED certified in Atlanta.

“Interior finishes were chosen with our target buyer in mind - someone who is concerned about reducing his or her environmental footprint, but who is also looking for an elegantly designed home,” said Simon Tuohy of Urban Realty Partners, co-developer of the project along with Melaver, Inc., one of the Southeast’s foremost sustainable developers.

The project is consistent with the principles of New Urbanism, located in a redeveloping corridor where high-density, mixed-use projects are replacing low-density development. With ready access to employment, entertainment and city amenities, new development in the area aims to maximize use of existing infrastructure and transit.
